Wall drying is part of humidity treatments. Capillary rise is a physical phenomenon caused by moisture that rises from the ground into the walls.

It can be described as a humidity problem. All porous materials in contact with the ground are affected. The water circulating in the soil comes into contact with masonry that hasn’t received a capillary break during construction. To stop capillary rise, the cause must be eliminated.

Every wall naturally generates an electrical potential difference from the ground, which spreads moisture. Water then rises through the porosity of the wall, maintaining the potential difference.

The principle of the electronic drying unit is to generate an opposing electrical current in the wall. Drying damp walls (as well as preventive drying) is done using an electronic device placed directly on the wall: the drying unit.

The device emits weak electrical impulses into the wall, directed towards the ground. This reverses the polarity of the electromagnetic fields already present in the wall, pushing the water downwards.

Drying walls with an electronic unit is one of the main solutions to combat moisture in your walls caused by capillary rise (when moisture from the ground rises into the walls) or lateral infiltration due to hydrostatic pressure. It offers several advantages:

  • Wall drying does not damage the walls at all: no vibrations, no drilling.
  • Faster wall drying.
  • Tackles the root cause of the problem.
  • Suitable for old or fragile walls.
  • Effective.

Drying takes between 18 and 24 months (depending on the building’s specifics and adherence to recommendations*). The wall’s natural insulating power is thus reinforced, leading to reduced heating consumption as the walls become less humid.

It produces no noise or harmful waves, and consumes very little electricity.

Certifications:

  • Directive 2014/35/EU (Low Voltage)
  • Directive 2014/30/EU (EMC)
  • No harm from electromagnetic waves (EMF)
  • Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS)
  • Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE)

Product advantages:

  • Radical and definitive solution: tackles the humidity problem in walls at its source.
  • Quick and effective results: Capillary rise is eliminated within 18 to 24 months (depending on the building’s specifics and adherence to recommendations*).
  • Reduces heating costs (damp rooms overconsume energy).
  • No health hazards for people, animals, or plants (product certified by the Emitech laboratory).
  • Low electricity consumption.
  • Easy to install, with no work, no noise, and no dust (telephone assistance available).
  • French manufacturing.

Technical characteristics:

  • Action radius of 7.5m and maximum action diameter of 15m.
  • Minimal footprint: simple device plugged into a power socket.
  • Safety: the emission of waves does not exceed that of household appliances (washing machine, hair dryer, refrigerator, electric oven, or microwave).
  • Voltage: 12V
  • Power consumption: 0.75W
  • Dimensions: 322 x 232 x 32mm
  • Warranty: 10 years from the manufacturer.

What is the purpose of our IPE ATE LC15 electromagnetic polarity inverter?

Our ATE LC30 electromagnetic polarity inverter is the solution to humidity problems in your home. It dries walls by pushing down the capillary rise.

How does our IPE ATE LC15 electromagnetic polarity inverter work?

Our ATE LC30 electromagnetic polarity inverter emits a very low-frequency electromagnetic field that alters the orientation of water molecules. These molecules then fall by gravity into the foundations, carrying with them some of the salts responsible for efflorescence and damp stains. Afterwards, the wall drying occurs through the natural evaporation of moisture.

It can be easily installed or fixed in the damp area without affecting the masonry.

Result: Your walls will be dried within 18 to 24 months (depending on the building’s specifics and adherence to recommendations*).

Installation, advice & recommendations:

  1. INSTALLATION OF THE IPE ATE LC15 ELECTROMAGNETIC POLARITY INVERTER:
  • The device must be installed at least 1.50m away from any electronic or electrical device.
  • Installation height: a minimum of 30 cm and a maximum of 1 m above ground level.
  • The device must be hung on the wall like a picture.
  • The device should not be moved.
  • The device must be placed directly on a load-bearing or partition wall (never on plasterboard).
  • Know the dimensions of the property (especially the longest diagonal) to determine whether the ATE LC30’s diameter of effectiveness covers the entire building.
  • The IPE ATE LC30 electromagnetic polarity inverter must be permanently connected, but its power consumption is extremely low (only 0.75W, costing about €15/year).
  1. REMOVAL OF PLASTERS OR FILMOGENIC COATINGS
  • It is recommended to remove the bottom of the wall coverings during the drying period, to a height of approximately 10 cm above the degradation zone, so the walls can breathe.
  1. VENTILATION OF THE BUILDING
  • Good air circulation is essential since part of the drying occurs through evaporation. Proper ventilation is therefore crucial.
  • Install appropriate ventilation in your building.
  • Ensure doors and windows meet standards (doors trimmed at least 1.5 cm in dry rooms and 2 cm in humid rooms).
  • Install ventilators on windows.
  1. RESTORATION OF PLASTERS AND PAINTING
  • Once the walls have dried, hygroscopic salts (which attract moisture) will have migrated to the surface. It is essential to brush these off to remove most of them. For perfect wall drying, not only must the walls be dry and healthy, but it is also essential to prevent mineral salts from rising into the plasters.
  • We recommend replastering your facade with lime and an anti-salt additive.
  1. DRAIN INSTALLATION
  • It is recommended to install a drain in case of lateral infiltration. The drain’s function is to collect and remove groundwater before it reaches the foundations.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

The factors influencing the speed of wall drying include their thickness, composition, and covering, as well as compliance with our recommendations.

This method does not address infiltration, flooding issues, or mold, which must be treated separately.
